Agent Operating Guide
/coach-howto
Task-oriented step-by-step walkthroughs for common Canvas tasks: a numbered list of clicks or commands drawn from the bundled docs snapshot, with a watch-out section for known gotchas.
Get a concrete, numbered walkthrough for a Canvas task. You name the task; the skill
dispatches the coach-doc-searcher helper agent to find the most procedural section of
the docs snapshot bundled with the plugin and renders it as a numbered How to <task>
list where every step is a specific click or command, ending with a source citation and a
Watch out note for security-relevant steps. It’s answers-only: it produces the
steps for you to follow and never writes to your tenant.
When to use
Section titled “When to use”When you want the exact clicks or commands to do something: add a custom field, create an item type, import bulk data, add a user as admin, or configure the MCP connector. For a conceptual “how does this work” question, use /coach-ask; for a single term, use /coach-glossary; when something errored, use /coach-troubleshoot.
Inputs
Section titled “Inputs”| Flag | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
--for-role admin|auditor|sox-lead|developer |
No | Bias the walkthrough toward one role’s path through the task. |
Example
Section titled “Example”/coach-howto add a custom field returns a “How to add a custom field” list, open
Settings, then Item Types, pick the type, Add field, set its type and flags, followed by a
Source citation to the docs section and a Watch out note about the field flags that
change list-view and search behavior.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Steps are concrete clicks or commands capped at about ten, with a Watch out section on security-relevant tasks like deleting records or exporting confidential data.
- A task that spans several skills (say, standing up a full SOX cycle) is pointed at the right sibling skill or workflow template instead of crammed into one long list.
- For a task the docs don’t cover, the skill offers to escalate with /coach-ticket-open under category how-to rather than guessing.
Related
Section titled “Related”- /coach-ask: conceptual questions about how something works.
- /coach-glossary: define a term that shows up in the steps.
