Add one new item type to your schema, appended in bulk-import format for you to apply from the admin Bulk Import page.

Add a single new item type to your schema. The skill gathers the type’s slug, name, plural, icon, color, and an initial field set (interactively if you don’t supply them), then appends it to your workspace schema JSON in bulk-import format. Item types are an admin-page concern, not a data change: nothing routes through suggest_change: you apply the new type by pasting the schema at the admin Bulk Import page.

When to use

When a tenant that’s past its initial schema design needs a record type the shared core doesn’t have. To apply a whole pre-baked set of types at once, use the starter-pack flow. For a quick one-off tweak like renaming a field label, the /en/admin/item-types page works without this skill.

The skill is interactive by default. Flags let you skip prompts:

Example

/coach-itemtype-add --name "Vendor" --namePlural "Vendors" derives the slug, picks an icon and color (or takes yours), seeds a minimal field set (title, description, status, owner), then hands off to /coach-field-builder for domain fields and validates the schema before printing the Bulk Import steps. You paste the JSON at /en/admin/bulk-import and click Import.

Good to know

  • The new type’s fields must live under a FieldDefinition array (capital F, capital D). The legacy lowercase fields array is silently dropped at import, leaving the type with zero fields: the skill uses the correct key and validates before it prints.
  • The import is idempotent. Existing types are updated in place, so re-importing the full schema is safe.
  • Adding a type is reversible only by editing the JSON before the admin applies it. Once imported, the type lives in Canvas until an admin retires it from the Item Types page.
